Friday, January 13, 2006:
Regular member attendees were:
Dain, Greg, Ed, Brian, Carl, Sharon & Now Doug
Reported by Greg Nelson:
The AppleLinc club meeting was held at Doug Jaworski's home on Friday night, 13
January 2006. We had a pretty good turn-out, with Carl and Sharon Knoblock
motoring over from Lincoln, while Ed Eastman, Dain Neater, Brian Flood and
myself (Greg Nelson) joined Doug and his family at their home in south Lincoln.
As we had a quorum, we decided to impeach our club President, Roy, again.

We had pizza (thanks Ed) and soft drinks, sat around and talked about numerous topics, including computers. Doug's wife made Norwegian Krumkake, an ice-cream cone shaped tasty bit :

Sharon Knoblock and I discussed the latest version of Reunion, the Mac-only geneology software which she really likes. Sharon demonstrated it at KFest the past two years. It's quite nice. I think there's a version which will run on my OS 9.1 Mac. It's just a matter of time before I get into fam history on the Mac. I've actually got some Mac geneology software for the Mac but haven't fired it up yet.
By and by we got a Real Computer (Apple ][gs) going on Friday night; it was playing Music Construction set while the musical notes flew by on a large monitor brought along by Brian. He also had a few other bits to demonstrate as well, so we were all pleased to be there.
We discussed photography as well. Greg had his analog camera, Honeywell Pentax
Spotmatic, while Doug had his digital camera. Someday Greg will get pulled
screaming and fighting into the 21st century, but just not yet
Doug showed us Stellarium software on his WinDoze computer which displays the
night's sky, complete with planets, stars, constellations. It reminded me of
Tonight's Sky software which runs on a Real Computer :

We discussed model rocket building and other topics and kept pretty busy.
Although Greg had brought along a plastic tote with Apple ][gs software in it,
we didn't really get into serious applications yet. We looked at Doug's Apple
software and hardware.
We agreed to get together soon as we all had a relaxing evening and went away on
speaking terms with each other.
Ed's Notes:
Brian brought in a couple of items needing a home, door prizes if you will. While no one could be talked into keeping the monitor, the printer found a happy home. Brian promised to keep the monitor in a safe corner of his garage until a suitable home could be found. It is very nice, if you need a 20 TV type monitor with RGB in for whatever, contact Brian.
The evening's activities were:
- Racing cars on Doug's computer
- Several web sites were visited although we were unable to attach to Doug's wireless
- Conversation reagrding old PCs, modifying systems, games, and other usual tidbits.
- Questions of all manor of A2 were discussed
- Testing the 20 inch monitor on a IIgs. Several difficulties were encountered due to cable deficiencies.
- A demo was run on Doug's IIgs (Music Construction set)
- A demonstration of the program stellarium was very cool.
